HVAC Service Technician @ 72 Degrees Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing - Sign on bonus up to $2,000*
The Service Technician Level has a minimum of 3 years of experience in the HVAC trade and can perform seasonal maintenance on residential and light commercial HVAC equipment with the ability to educate homeowners on issues or improvements needed. Additionally, Service Technician can run demand service calls on residential and light commercial and is assigned to the on-call schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent equipment failure by cleaning air conditioning and heating systems
- Monitor and calibrate air handling systems and replace filters, motors, fans, belts, etc. on systems.
- Repair, replace and adjust vents and duct work.
- May clean air ducts to maximize efficiency and improve indoor air quality.
- Assist in locating and diagnosing problems, assessing extent of repairs and describing options and associated costs to the customer.
- Provide a description of diagnosed problems to customer in terms that can be understood with options, as possible.
- Assists with repairs of complete systems to include repairing, calibrating or replacing controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, piping and other functional components of the system.
- Completes all required documentation on services, explains guarantees/warranties and collects, records fees in industry specific software.
- Installs, repairs, replaces or cleans refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, smoke detectors, humidifiers and grills, as appropriate.
- Ensures that all HVAC repairs and installations are accurate, serviceable and that materials used and workmanship meet the requirements of applicable technical/safety standards and regulatory codes.
- Makes any modification needed to ensure proper installation and air balance.
- Measures, documents and reports system performance.
- Demonstrates respect and compassion when communicating with clients on work performed and on recommendations for repairs or replacement.
- Document service performed and recommendations made by completing applicable forms, reports, logs, and/or records in Service Titan.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with General Air’s quality and safety standards.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (internal and/or external).
- Explain the benefits and value of a Club Membership Agreement to clients and convert nonmembers to our Club Membership program.

- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle and truck stock.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Good customer service skills- must be friendly and approachable and professional
- A minimum of three years’ experience in residential HVAC services
- Computer proficiency- Microsoft Office, Outlook email and chat technologies
- Well organized and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- EPA Certified
- Adequate written communication skills. Proficient in English
- High attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
- Well-organized with exceptional follow-through abilities
- Ability to build trust and diffuse conflict
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check required

- Valid driver’s license and good communications skills

Physical Demands:
Must be able to:
- Sit and stand for long periods of time
- Walk long distances while carrying equipment
- Climb ladders and work at heights greater than six feet
- Crawl on knees and work in tight spaces
- Physically flexible and able to maneuver in small spaces
- Requires the ability to raise, manipulate and maneuver tools, components and materials and handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
- Must be able to lift or carry heavy objects of up to 50 pounds to include ductwork, furnaces or materials.
- Good manual dexterity to manipulate small parts
