Yes. Every whole house fan we install is covered by both the manufacturer’s equipment warranty and our own workmanship warranty on the installation itself. Those are two different things, and the difference matters more than most homeowners realize.

Equipment Warranty vs. Workmanship Warranty

The manufacturer’s warranty covers the fan: the motor, the housing, the damper assembly, the controls. Term length varies by brand and model, and we go over the specific coverage for your unit before you buy anything.

The workmanship warranty covers what we did. Framing, mounting, electrical connections, ducting, sealing, and the integrity of the ceiling penetration. If something we installed fails or was installed incorrectly, we come back and correct it.

This distinction is where a lot of homeowners get burned by low-bid installers. A manufacturer will happily send a replacement motor under warranty, but it will not pay anyone to come pull the unit out of your ceiling, and it will not cover damage caused by a bad install. If the company that put it in is unwilling to stand behind the labor, a “warrantied” fan can still cost you real money.

Why Installation Quality Decides Whether a Whole House Fan Works

A whole house fan is a deceptively simple product. It is a big fan in your ceiling that pulls cool evening air through open windows and pushes hot attic air out. The equipment rarely fails. The installation frequently does.

The most common failure is inadequate attic exhaust. A whole house fan moves an enormous volume of air, and that air has to leave the attic. If the attic does not have enough net free vent area, the fan cannot move its rated airflow, it works against its own back pressure, and it runs loud and hot. The fan is not defective. The ventilation is inadequate. We calculate required vent area before installing and correct it if it falls short.

The second common failure is the sealing. In winter, an unsealed fan opening is a hole between your conditioned living space and your attic, and it will cost you heating dollars every day of the season. Insulated, gasketed damper assemblies exist for exactly this reason, and getting the seal right is installation work, not equipment.

What Our Guarantee Covers Beyond the Fan

Our Home Comfort Guarantee applies to whole house fan work like any other installation. It is about the outcome, not just the hardware. If the fan is installed correctly and still is not doing what we told you it would do, that is our problem to solve.

That matters for this product in particular, because a whole house fan is a comfort strategy rather than a piece of equipment you simply bolt in. It works spectacularly well in the Hill Country during spring and fall, when evening temperatures drop sharply after sunset and you can flush an entire house with cool air for pennies. It does very little at two in the afternoon in August. Part of the install is us being straight with you about when to run it, so the thing you bought actually delivers.

How It Fits With Your Other Systems

A whole house fan is not a replacement for air conditioning, and any company that suggests otherwise is setting you up for disappointment. It is a tool that lets you leave the air conditioning off during the shoulder seasons and on cool nights, which is where the savings come from.

Homeowners often pair it with attic fans, which do a different job entirely — they exhaust the attic itself to reduce heat load on the ceiling — and with insulation improvements, since a poorly insulated attic undoes much of the benefit either fan provides. We will tell you which of the three actually moves the needle in your house rather than selling you all of them.

Keeping the Warranty Intact

Most equipment warranties require reasonable maintenance, and the fastest way to void one is neglect. Members of our Care Club maintenance plan get their fan checked during seasonal visits, which keeps documentation current and catches a failing damper or a noisy bearing early.

We install and service whole house fans throughout Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Boerne, Comfort, and the surrounding Hill Country. For specific warranty terms on your unit, contact 72 Degrees or call (830) 240-1835.
